Funding for faculty labs and centers through student time

Graduate Assistantships: Utilize graduate student assistantships to support ongoing research within labs and centers, providing financial incentives for students while advancing lab goals.
Undergraduate research funding in partnership with other Centers, Labs, and Faculty programs
Funding a doctoral student for the CPT That can help support faculty initiatives

Research Collaboration with Professors

Faculty Research and Practice Grants: Establish grants specifically designed for collaborative research enhances professors’ work to develop innovative research, tools and methodologies, and/or practice
Develop Collaborative Research Tools: That can be utilized by any professor
Faculty Partnerships with CPT-Developed Programming Illuminate research partnership opportunities to accompany CPT programming in both research and practice, to include funded accompanying research

Professor/Student Pitch Days with Donors and Experts

Semester Pitch Days: Organize semesterly events where professors and students can pitch research ideas or projects to donors and industry experts, creating a bridge between academic work and funding sources.
Interactive Workshops: Prior to pitch days, hold workshops where students and professors are trained on how to effectively present their research ideas to potential funders, with emphasis on communication and pitching techniques.

Peace Tech Journal

Peer-Reviewed Platform: Develop a Peace Tech Journal as a leading peer-reviewed platform where students, faculty, and external scholars can publish articles focused on the intersection of peace studies and technology.
Collaborative Editorial Board: Establish an editorial board composed of faculty, students, and external experts to guide content, ensuring a diverse range of perspectives and topics.

Host a Global Conference on Peace Tech

(with Notre Dame, Dr. Lisa Schirch)

Joint Planning Committee: Establish a joint planning committee consisting of faculty from both institutions to shape the conference’s themes, keynote speakers, and session content.
Funding and Sponsorship: Funding already exists for this conference.

Professional Development Workshops

for The Carter School and GMU

Collaborative Workshops: Offer joint professional development workshops that focus on tech-related topics as they would benefit scholarship, practice, and professional development
Guest Speakers and Experts
Career Pathways Guidance: Provide workshops that help students navigate career opportunities in non-profits and the private sector, with a focus on internships, post-doc positions, and job placement.

Policy, Fieldwork, Research, Publication, and Patent Assistance

Dedicated Support Office Hours: Dedicated to providing faculty and students with guidance and resources for navigating the process of policy engagement, fieldwork logistics, research publication, and patent applications as it relates to technology, IP, and law.
Patent and IP Workshops: Provide workshops and legal consultation services to help faculty and students navigate the complexities of intellectual property, patenting, and commercialization of research outcomes.

Lab-Based Curriculum Development: Encourage lab directors and tenured professors to develop specialized classes that integrate students into ongoing research projects within the lab, offering real-world applications of academic theories.
